Welcome to the Joy-of-Reading Wiki!

This Wiki contains several reading strategies to use before reading, during reading, or after reading. The beauty of these strategies is that they are applicable across all grade levels and content areas.

Each strategy's page follows a similar format. It usually starts with a graphic or image of the strategy so you can visualize the strategy or a form of the strategy you are using. The next section tell you what the strategy is and how it helps with reading skills. The third component is a section brainstorming some ways to use the strategy in class. Finally, there is a resource section with web link allowing you to connect to other sites with further explanations, examples, templates, or lesson plans.

You will also find a few pages on issues involving reading, such as motivating students to read or celebrating "the joy of reading".

To view the pages, use the Table of Contents below and click on the strategy that interests you most. Once you have navigated away from this page, you can also use the sidebar, to the left of these screen to navigate to through the website. You can also use the tag cloud below if you are looking for a strategy that fits a certain skill, such as summary or sequencing. Just click on the word that interests you, and any entries that fit that topic will appear!
